Non-compliant Society of Homeopaths members

Concerns regarding members offering CEASE were first raised with the Society of Homeopaths (SoH) at the end of 2017 (although it possible that others raised concerns prior to this). It's a long story but this post is a good place to start.

Although the Professional Standards Authority (PSA) imposed Conditions on the SoH that meant that they had to ensure member compliance, the PSA did not specify what compliance looked like. The recent Advertising Standards Authority (ASA) statement has changed things. Although not comprehensive, it does demonstrate some claims that would be deemed to be non-compliant.

Enforcement Notice
A look at the ASA enforcement notice is helpful.

#1: Describing the history of CEASE therapy may constitute a breach In the ASA’s ruling referred to above, the website stated “CEASE Therapy was developed by Dutch physician Tinus Smits M.D. who was looking for a way to help autistic children. Dr Smits helped over 300 children prior to his death in 2010….. CEASE Therapy involves the gentle removal of toxins from the body using a form of Homeopathy known as Isotherapy. Orthomolecular support is offered in the form of nutritional supplements to nourish the body and restore intestinal function. Classical homeopathic remedies are also prescribed to support the individual". The ASA considered that the information about Tinus Smits implied a benefit for homeopathy and CEASE therapy for autism, and that the intention of CEASE therapy was to treat autism.
Advice: Although advertisers may provide information about the history of a therapy, care should be taken not to make unsupported claims for the treatment when describing its background. It is very likely that referring to the therapy by its full name will also be problematic given the implied efficacy claim within it (see below).
This is very clear.
#2: Check for implied efficacy claims Whilst direct efficacy claims for the treatment of Autism with CEASE therapy are clearly problematic, practitioners should similarly take care to avoid making indirect or implied efficacy claims for CEASE therapy as a treatment for Autism if no supporting evidence exists.
Advice: As noted in point 1 above, the ASA would be likely to regard a reference to the therapy’s full name, ‘Complete Elimination of Autism Spectrum Expression’, as an implied efficacy claim. Further, any text which links CEASE therapy to autism and / or other spectrum-related conditions could amount to an implied efficacy claim. As shown in the ASA’s ruling, this can include visible text within URLs (as actual website page names, and as URLs within that website linking to external websites).
#3: Be careful when using testimonials The website also stated "The following testimonial is from a parent of a child currently receiving CEASE Therapy", which described improvements seen in a child diagnosed with autism. Beneath, text stated "This testimonial represents only the personal opinions of people who have come to me for homeopathy and does not represent evidence".
Advice: If a testimonial includes direct or indirect efficacy claims, then this will be subject to the same rules as any other claim. In other words, where efficacy has not been established, a testimonial should not be used to imply that it has. Patient testimonials alone are unlikely to substantiate objective claims about the efficacy of a product or therapy. Moreover, the use of a disclaimer is unlikely to be sufficient to counteract any misleading impression.
#4: Avoid making ‘detoxification’ claims In the ASA’s ruling, the website stated “CEASE Therapy involves the gentle removal of toxins from the body using a form of Homeopathy known as Isotherapy”. Aside from the implied efficacy claims for homeopathy and CEASE therapy as a treatment for Autism here, the ASA also considered the detoxification claims to be problematic.
Advice: CAP and the ASA understand that the body’s liver and kidneys automatically detoxify and excrete many toxic materials, including metabolic wastes, and has not seen evidence to support the theory that toxins can be removed from the body by other means, so care should be taken to avoid claiming or implying otherwise.
It is important to note that the ASA informed the SoH of the enforcement action. The exact date is unknown but May 2018 at the latest.

List of (potentially) non-compliant members
It is clear that either the SoH has a very different idea about compliance from other parties or it is having problems with getting members to comply. There is some evidence of the former. There is a problem with asking an organisation that believes in homeopathy to audit claims for homeopathic treatment. It is not objective. There is a problem with asking an organisation that is depends on income from those making the claims. Members can walk away and the income is lost.

This is why the ASA statement is so important.

Yes, it is true that over time some members have modified their claims but compliance by some is still a problem and the process is taking far too long.

This list is different to the previously posted list in that it takes account of the four issues raises by the ASA.

Although most (if not all) of these homeopaths will have previously been discussed, it is worth looking again in detail at some of the worse offenders is terms of compliance (and also some of the less serious offenders to make specific points). Yes, some of them do also crop on in this post about homeoprohylaxis and anti-vaccination, but that will not be (directly) discussed.

Aneta Lesniewska
Lesniewska was discussed here. There have seen some modifications to her website but this page still states -
Autism, just like most other modern illnesses, does not have a single cause. Vaccine damage, pharmaceutical drugs, emotional stress, and toxic exposures such as glyphosate in food are at the top of the list of causes.
This is not the case. Whilst the causes of autism are mysterious, there is considerable evidence that genetics plays role. Not mentioning this is misleading. What doesn't cause autism is much clearer. The claim that vaccines cause autism has been thoroughly debunked. The claim that emotional stress causes autism may well derive from the discredited Refrigerator mother theory. Many autistic people do experience emotional stress - partly for the same reasons as the rest of the population but also because dealing with the world can be more stressful for them. There is evidence that maternal exposure to pesticides can cause fetal neurological problems but the studies looked at those living in agricultural areas, not glyphosate in food fed to children.

Lewniewska's claims can not be substantiated. She goes on to say about "treatment" -
Detoxification to detox the body from relevant stress factors like antibiotics, vaccines or heavy metals. Constitutional homeopathic treatment of the child a remedy selected over his mental emotional physical symptoms. Bowel nosode Clearing toxic gut may become absorbed leading to abnormal immune response could be implications in Autism, Allergies, Asthma. They have potential to heal damaged bowels and neurological symptoms and anxiety. Isotherapy the treatment of a disease is the use of pathogenic product in homeopathic potencies
The "detoxification" claims, both direct and indirect ("Clearing toxic gut...") fall foul of the enforcement notice. There are also implicit claims about causes of autism too.

This page talks about Homeopathic Detox Therapy. Again, this falls foul of the enforcement notice.

The testimonials page is odd. Some of them are from parents in Poland (or Poles resident in the UK). These may have been translated. Only qualified medical professionals can practise homeopathy in Poland (it has, although there are some lay homeopaths there.

What is more important is that the testimonials are full of implied claims for the efficacy of homeopathy. To be clear, the kind of testimonials that are permitted are those that talk about the homeopath eg they were "empathetic", "kind", "caring" and "a good listener". Taking about the quality of service is permitted.

It is also concerning that Lesniewska has a closed Facebook group Homeopatyczny Detox Terapeutyczny - Autyzm. A translation of the Polish text -

The group is formed to share information on how to remove from the body toxicity disorder resulting post-vaccination reactions, heavy metals through diet, homeopathy, natural methods I am a certified Homeopath and an Autism Specialist. For the first time, I contacted my homeopath when my 2-year-old cousin after a series of vaccines began to have allergies that could have caused her developmental complications. Homeopathy and diet have increased her strength and helped her in getting full health. She passed the senior in Rawa Maz, she recently graduated from one of the universities in Poland. I have always dreamed of becoming a homeopath. I signed up to the Homeopath Education Center for 4 years of study in London in 2012. During my studies I worked with children with autism and the ADHD spectrum. My experience is based on working with children with autism, ADHD disorders and children with learning difficulties that I acquired when I was still working as a teacher at the Integration School in Poland. I have a master's degree in special education from the Pedagogy Academy in Warsaw. I moved to Great Britain in 2004 and have been working in the healthcare sector for over 10 years. My main goal is to work with children with autism, ADHD disorders and with children with various difficulties.
The fact that the claims are in Polish is irrelevant.  Lesniewska goes onto discuss HDT -
I also specialize in HDT Homeopathic Therapeutic DetoxDetoxifying steroids - artificial hormones contraceptive pills, pregnancy-supporting hormones, female hormones.treatment of eczema psoriasis and other skin disorders.Cleansing with Bisphenol A component of plastics causes hormone disruption, in women increased testosterone, and in men increased estrogen.Chemical substances, such as gasoline, vinyl, other radiation after numerous x-ray irradiationsVaccines: all vaccinations for children treating unwanted post-vaccination symptoms, autism, ADHDtravel vaccines, influenza vaccine, hepatitis A and B HPV vaccine.Other medicines: antibiotics. cleansing, improving immunity, supporting autoimmune disease and its treatment.Filling the bacterial flora in the case of blocked intestine and its treatment.Antidepressants very gradual purification and treatment of depression and anxiety.Cleansing from a statin, salbutamolMinerals: detoxification of aluminum, mercury, lead, asbestos, heavy metals as components of vaccinesDrugs: opiates, anesthetics after surgery and their side effects.
I invite all interested parties to see the interview in which I had the pleasure to tell about Homeopathy.https://www.youtube.com/watch?time_continue=48&v=CQJg2KtHK6UAneta Leśniewska Homeopath.

Again, detoxification claims, implied causation.

Why a closed group? There are various reasons why someone might want to have a closed group but one of them is that what is discussed in there may be illegal or ethical dubious. There are closed CEASE therapy groups such as this one. There are closed groups devoted to other quack treatments for autism - some of those have been infiltrated.

Alison Jones
Jones was discussed here. Jones is still listed on the CEASE therapy website. Her own website has a page on Detoxification and CEASE therapy. She talks about CEASE therapy -
The CEASE protocol has been devised as a tool to use alongside homeopathy for patients mainly on the autistic spectrum or other behavioural problems. This uses methods of detoxification with homeopathic remedies over 1 to 8 week programmes alongside the use of the homeopathic constitutional remedy.
I provide a constitutional homeopathic remedy first to see my patient’s reaction before starting a detoxification programme. The combination of homeopathic prescriptions alongside the CEASE programme has been beneficial in many cases.
Have a look at the CEASE website at http://www.cease-therapy.com/ for further information or telephone me for a free preliminary discussion. I am an accredited CEASE practitioner.
This falls foul of the enforcement notice because of the (implied) claim that CEASE is effective in treating autism and the more general claims re detoxification. Linking to the CEASE therapy website is directing potential clients to more direct claims.

Jones seems to have a thing about lead poisoning which is a condition that homeopathy can not "detox". Medical treatment is required. Jones uses hair analysis - if it is a lab doing chemical tests, it would likely detect lead but...

On her About page -
I am an accredited CEASE practitioner and may use CEASE methods and detoxification for my patients with autism and behavioural problems as well as in other areas of my work.
Again, detoxification and implied efficacy of CEASE for autism.

Amanda Bate
Bate was discussed here. She is still listed on the CEASE therapy website and her entry there is unchanged. Her website has changed over time but it is still problematic. The Consultations page contains -
Tautopathy, a way of using remedies made from pharmaceutical drugs and vaccinations. This therapy is helpful if long term use of a drug or vaccination has caused a problem. I would discuss this methodology with you should I think you would benefit from it. It is a different way of using remedies. This method of homeopathy is used for some patients with Autistic Spectrum Disorder or Aspergers or patients who have suffered side effects from The Pill, steroids, antidepressants and other medications.
This is clearly CEASE therapy even if Bate has changed the wording and removed the link to the CEASE therapy website. There is still the implication that vaccines cause autism and that tautopathy (CEASE) is effective in treating it.

Bate has a Links page that is not directly accessible via the menus on her website but is discoverable via search engines.
I am a qualified CEASE therapist. CEASE Therapy is a way of using homeopathy to help adults and children suffering from ASD, or who are suffering from the side effects of drugs, e.g hormone contraceptives, steroids, antibiotics, and others. Find out more about it here - www.cease-therapy.com/make-appointment/practitioner//amandabate
Implied claims of efficacy for CEASE therapy for treatment of autism. Is removing internal links from a website sufficient for compliance? If it is assumed that consumers only ever access a website starting from its home page, possibly, but if consumers search for products/services based on key word searches, no.

Anita Happs
Happs was mentioned here. Nothing has changed. Happs does not make any problematic claims on her website but...

Arunjot Mushiana
Mushiana appears here. The problem with Mushiana is less what she says on her own website but elsewhere. There are various CAM practitioner directory listing sites and SoH members sign up to them but don't seem to grasp that advertising restrictions also apply. Mushiana's entry on Natural Therapy Pages

Arunjot is a professionally qualified homeopath with experience in a wide range of family health matters. Arunjot is a member of The Society of Homeopaths (UK’s largest professional body) and a certified CEASE Therapist which is a protocol used in addressing issues of toxicity from drug and environmental damage.
It's very mildly worded.

Julia Lockwood
Lockwood was discussed here.
I am a qualified homeopathic detox practitioner. Homeopathic detox was first developed by a Dutch doctor, Tinus Smits MD, to treat autistic children, and is now being practised, refined and developed by more than 500 homeopaths worldwide, who are linked by a strong and collaborative network.
Note that Lockwood no longer uses the term CEASE but given that she mentions Smits, it is clear that she is practising CEASE. There is an implication of efficacy for CEASE. There is evidence of a network of CEASE practitioners (including this) - mentions of practitioners being contacted by journalists prior to publication of articles have been seen on social media. These posts come from other practitioners who are not under investigation. Lockwood has embedded this video.

Embedding a video is different to linking to an external site. It is very much meant to be seen as part of Lockwood's marketing. The video is an advertisement for Smit's book (discussed here in depth) as well as for CEASE therapy.

Donna Draper
Draper was discussed here. Nothing seems to have changed on her website -
Although my work covers the whole spectrum of conditions that homeopathic medicine can help with, I do have a particular interest in working with children and adults suffering from conditions that may have arisen from vaccinations. This includes all those people who have “never been well since…” they were vaccinated. I have seen the health and behaviour of both adults and children improve considerably following homeopathic treatment.
I am one of the few specially trained and qualified homeopaths to offer CEASE Therapy which is a very effective and safe way to manage and improve conditions arising on the Autistic spectrum. It combines homeopathy and nutritional supplements alongside a gentle, structured detoxification. This protocol has not only been successful in helping people on the Autistic Spectrum but also people suffering from a variety of other chronic conditions. (For more information about CEASE: www.cease-therapy.com)
It contains a direct claim of efficacy for CEASE. There is an implication that vaccines cause health problems and there are also detox claims.

Emma Field

Field was discussed here. Her page on CEASE therapy states -

This method of treatment has matured through the work of Dr Tinus Smits and his work with autistic children which focuses on the causative factors of the condition. Step by step these causative factors which may be vaccines, medication, environmental toxic exposure or effects of illness are treated with homoeopathically prepared substances.
His work using this treatment has been very successful and the experience has taught us that autistic children do not suffer from one single cause but from an accumulation of different causes.
For more information please call me and visit the website http://www.cease-therapy.com

Again, implications for efficacy for CEASE and also that vaccines (among other things) cause autism.

What is interesting is how her website has changed. This archived version on her page on CEASE is very different (and too long to reproduce in full). It changes some time before October 2018.

Emma McGuire
McGuire is mentioned here. It seems that she has acquired a website since that was written. It contains the following -

In cases of toxic overload, homeopathy can be used to gently clear those toxins from the brain and body. The protocol I use is the CEASE method.

And -

CEASE therapy is a form of homeopathic treatment, developed by Dr Tinus Smits of the Netherlands.

CEASE therapy combines isopathy with classical homeopathy and 'inspiring' homeopathy to bring about a safe and natural release of toxins and can address some of the challenges associated with many conditions, including learning and behavioural difficulties, arrested development, emotional and mental conditions, digestive and gut disorders with allergies or food sensitivities.

Orthomolecular supplements support the detoxification process keeping the immune system strong and enabling the excretion of the toxins at a physiological level.
McGuire is also a practitioner at Salix Health and WellBeing. Her entry reads -
I graduated as a classical homoeopath in 2010 from the School of Homeopathy (UK) and went on to become a certified CEASE therapist (2011) and more recently a supervisor for students wishing to complete their clinical supervision (2015).
CEASE therapy was developed as a means of helping those with behavioural and learning difficulties by detoxing the body of chemicals and heavy metals through homoeopathic remedies and orthomolecular support. The majority of my CEASE patients are children on the autistic spectrum but CEASE therapy can help a wide variety of health conditions. I have had patients who have used CEASE therapy successfully to deal with side effects of medication/vaccination, dyslexia/dyscalculia, retained reflexes, lazy eye, candidiasis, food allergies/sensitivities and digestive disorders amongst many other things.
There are claims of efficacy, both direct and indirect. There are detoxification claims.

Geetu Anand
Anand is mentioned here. Her page on CEASE therapy has changed a little -
I am passionate about helping children diagnosed with ASD to balance their mental emotional and physical state and live life to their full potential.

CEASE Therapy is a safe, effective and non-toxic step-by-step protocol developed by the late Dr Tinus Smits to help treat Autism and many other chronic health conditions, as well as conditions that are linked to toxicity caused by environmental factors and conventional medications.

Homeopathically prepared causative factors are administered to the client - this type of approach is referred to as isopathic treatment.

The client is also supported with orthomolecular medicine.

To find out more about cease therapy, please visit www.cease-therapy.com.
"Complete Elimination of Autistic Spectrum Expression" is no longer there. Nor is mention of "vaccine injury" but there are still claims of efficacy and implied causes of autism.

However, her entry on the City Therapy Centre website states -
I then went on to train as a CEASE therapist (complete elimination of the autistic spectrum expression).
Gill Marshall
Marshall is mentioned here. She has a page on Homeopathic Detox. It looks as if she did make the claim that vaccines cause autism but it has been removed.

Iris Hay
Hay spells out "Complete Elimination of Autistic Spectrum Expression" here on the Find A Therapy website.

Jackie Jones
Jones does not seem to have her own website. Jones works at Kendal House Clinic. The page for CEASE therapy no longer says anything but it used to. Kendal House removed the content when informed of the ASA statement.

Jones also works out of the Remedy Centre. Her entry states -
Jackie is committed to Continuous Professional Development, regularly attending post graduate studies within the United Kingdom and abroad and recently completed a CEASE (Complete Elimination of Autistic Spectrum Expression) therapy training course in Cambridge.
 And -
Jackie also offers:-
• CEASE therapy (detoxification programme)
• Reiki
The Remedy Centre were informed of the problematic content but have done nothing.

Janet Higgins
Higgins does not say a lot about CEASE therapy on her website. On her home page

I have been working as a health practitioner both privately and on the NHS since 1989. Currently I run a private homeopathy clinic within the Bolton area and I am a certified cease therapist.
And
From a medical background in speech therapy, counselling and homeopathy, I consider myself very experienced in the understanding an treatment of a wide range of issues such as: anxiety, depression, autistic spectrum disorder, ADHD, chronic pain and fatigue, menopausal complaints, auto immune disease, allergies and much more....
On her About Me page -
My special interests are:
Anxiety and depressionAutistic spectrum disorder and ADHDChronic pain and fatigueMenopausal complaintsAuto immune diseaseAllergiesThe use of CEASE therapy alongside classical homeopathy
Higgins again links to the CEASE therapy website here -

Fees
Initial consultation : £70Follow up consultations: £40
Detox courses (for example part of Cease therapy): additional £30 per coursePregnancy and child birth therapeutics  : £10 for telephone consultation and remedy prescibing.
Remedies are included apart from the detox remedies

And on the links page -
Cease Therapy : a homeopathic approach to improving the health and well being of children and young people on the autistic spectrum. This detox approach can be used to support anyone who feel they have been subject to toxic damge or overload leading to a decline in their health  and well being.
And -
www.savingalostgeneration.com : video cases to support the work of homeopathy and autistic spectrum disorders
That website is related to the abortive project by Carol Boyce which is discussed here.

Higgins is also a member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP). BACP is accredited by the PSA. What BACP would make of CEASE therapy is unknown but they are likely to recognise the safeguarding risks (which the SoH seem extremely reluctant to do).

Karen Sternhell
Sternhell is discussed here. On her Consultations + Homeopathy page -

CEASE therapy is a way of applying homeopathy that was developed by Tinus Smits M.D when working with people on the autistic spectrum. It has been and continues to be developed and can also be extremely useful for working with people with reactions to specific medications and environmental toxins. There's lots of useful information on the CEASE website, here. (http://www.cease-therapy.com/)

Sternhall also links to the CEASE therapy website here.

Jennifer Hautman
Hautman has been discussed multiple times on this blog. Fortunately, her website is still experiencing problems and it is likely that few will look at it.

Also, if any SoH member has been referred to Trading Standards, it would likely be Hautman.

Joanna Shipley
Shipley is discussed here. Here she says -
I'm so delighted to be going away today! Although it's a crazily busy time of year with patients, the investment of time in further professional training is always worthwhile. This time I've chosen to train further in detoxing patients safely. This is by using homeopathy to remove the adverse effects of medication in the body. I was lucky enough to be first taught by the late Dr Tinus Smits in 2006. He was a wonderful, gentle and inspirational man and his work has been carried on today in the form of CEASE therapy.
CEASE training was predominantly about using homeopathy to treat autism. As CEASE say on their website "Dr. Smits' conclusion after having seen over 300 cases of all levels of severity. In his experience autism is an accumulation of different causes and about 70% is due to vaccines, 25% to toxic medication and other toxic substances, 5% to some diseases. With isotherapy, a form of homeopathy using the causative substances themselves in homeopathic preparation, the toxic imprints can be erased." However, many conditions can be treated using this method.
Oh dear. Shipley has also embedded the same video as above, links to the CEASE therapy website and Smits' book.

Libby Clapham
Clapham on her website says CEASE therapy is -
A form of homeopathy developed by Dr Tinus Smits when he was working with children on the Autistic spectrum and also found to be a helpful approach for others suffering from various chronic long term diseases who are not responding well to the usual homeopathic methods. The CEASE method uses homeopathic remedies in a particular way together with orthomolecular (vitamins and minerals) support.I am a fully trained and registered CEASE practitioner.Consultations available via the Internet as well as face to face.

Lucinda Torabi
Torabi is discussed here. Torabi has removed mention of CEASE therapy from her website but does link to the CEASE therapy website on her About page. However, her entry on Therapy Directory says -
CEASE therapy was developed several years ago by Dr Tinus Smits, a Dutch homeopath who found that by using potentised vaccines and medicines certain patients, in particular those on the autistic spectrum, experienced significant positive changes. To find out more - www.cease-therapy.com.
Her entry on netmums -

CEASE therapy is method of treatment for children on the autistic spectrum which uses both homeopathic remedies and nutrition. I am a qualified CEASE therapist.
Her entry on Find A Therapy -
CEASE therapy is a method of working with children on the autistic spectrum and involves a combination of classical homeopathy, nutrition and isopathy.
Melanie Tomsett
Tomsett makes no mention of CEASE on her website but does on this Yell ad.
The ethos of MLT Homeopathy is to provide the highest standard of homeopathic healthcare to patients of all ages. Melanie is also a qualified C.E.A.S.E therapy practitioner. C.E.A.S.E was created by Tinus Smits, GP and homeopath.
Melanie began her education in homeopathy at Westminster University, completing her degree at the Middlesex University affiliated Centre for Homeopathic Education. Melanie is also a qualified and registered C.E.A.S.E practitioner. This comprehensive education and training has allowed Melanie to utilise her knowledge of both classical and practical homeopathic methodologies, ensuring a modern, tailored treatment to meet the individual requirements of each patient.
Melissa Foreman
Foreman is discussed here. On her Qualifications page she says -
I am also qualified as a CEASE therapist. Cease therapy is a way of treating autism through elimination of causative toxic exposures such as vaccines and regular medication.
Vaccines do not cause autism.

Merran Sell
Sell is discussed here. It would appear that nothing on her website has changed.

Muhammad Hayaat Riaz Khan
Khan is discussed here. His highly problematic website does not seem to have changed. This is surprising. The SoH should be aware of how problematic it is.

Niki McGlynn
McGlynn is discussed here. On her About Homeopathy page -
I am also a trained CEASE therapist. CEASE therapy is a particular way of applying homeopathy that was developed for the treatment of children with autism, however it may be effective for anyone who thinks that they have had a bad reaction to a specific conventional treatment or environmental toxin such as antibiotics, vaccinations, lyme disease, mercury exposure etc. You can find more information about CEASE therapy here
Her page on Neurodevelopment is also of concern.

Penelope Harrington
Harrington's website says -

Penelope has recently qualified as a CEASE THERAPIST having attended a CEASE Course and Passed the Certification Exam in early March.
There are THREE COMPONENTS to CEASE.

The First Component is ORTHOMOLECULAR which is to support the Physical Cellular Level or Body, to Detox and open the Elimination Pathways, and also to nourish this level.
The Second Component is ISOTHERAPY which is the homeopathic version of the specific obstacle to cure, and once identified to treat this in an organised way called the Flex Method.
The Third Component is called The Saturday Remedy which is a remedy that globally supports what is going on, in the whole system Body, Mind, Spirit, and this also includes the use of CELL SALTS.

Sam Pereira
Pereira page on Other Treatments says -

Homeopathic detox therapy (formerly known as CEASE therapy)
If constitutional homeopathic treatment fails to act as expected, homeopathic detox therapy can be worth considering. I trained in homeopathic detox therapy in 2016 and am qualified to practise as a homeopathic detox therapist. This system of healing involves using a combination of orthomolecular support (nutritional supplements, herbs, tissue salts and so on), isotherapy (the specific toxin that has triggered the symptoms) and constitutional homeopathic treatment. For more information about homeopathic detox therapy please feel free to contact me.
Please note that my fee structure for homeopathic detox treatment is different from constitutional treatment - please refer to the fee page for further information on this.
Her Fees page says -
My fees usually include the cost of homeopathic remedies, unless they are required very urgently via post, in which case you will need to order via Helios, (but not homeobotanical remedies, which incur an additional charge), and also remedies incur an extra fee for homeopathic detox therapy cases (note - this applies to the UK only. Patients outside of mainland UK need to source their own remedies).
Simone Ann Oates
On her What is CEASE therapy page Oates says -

CEASE therapy is a treatment for children affected  by autistic spectrum disorders or ADHD.

CEASE therapy was discovered by Tinus Smits, a Doctor and Homeopath who was detoxifying children  who were damaged by vaccines. Many behavioural problems, mood swings, aggression, restlessness ADHD, soon disappeared, even when these children had come to him for completely different reasons. He then worked with children with autism where virtually all children considerably improved  and parents were once again able to see the child they had known before. There are exceptions, as in brain damage and certain brain diseases.

CEASE therapy is a combination of : Homeopathy, Isotherapy, Orthomolecular supplements and Nutritional advice.
Initially the  ‘constitutional’ homeopathic remedies will be administered where indicated to support the individual’s vitality.
Isotherapy is the systematic lifting of the toxic load through the use of specific homeopathic remedies.
Orthomolecular support includes: Omega 3 fatty acids from fish or krill oil. Vitamin C. in the form of Ascorbate (water soluble vitamin C). and also Ascorbyl Palmitate  (fat soluble vitamin C). and Zinc.Nutritional support.
We advocate the use of healthy organic foods without sugar.

For more information please go to http://www.cease-therapy.com/

Sophie Knock
Knock is discussed here. Knock may have removed "Complete Elimination of Autistic Spectrum Expression" but her page on CEASE therapy is still problematic.

CEASE Therapy involves a step by step process by which possible causative factors (vaccines, regular medication, toxic exposures, etc.) are detoxified with homeopathic diluted and potentized substances.
Dr. Tinus Smits discovered in his practice with over 300 cases the foundation of CEASE therapy. In his experience autisic type expressions are an accumulation of different causes and about 70% are due to vaccines, 25% to toxic medication and other toxic substances, 5% to some diseases. With isotherapy (see below), a form of homeopathy using the causative substances themselves in homeopathic preparation, the toxic imprints can be erased.
Isotherapy uses the causative substances as a homeopathic remedy, their profound toxic effects can be witnessed as the children begin to react to the remedies. In this way Dr. Smits discovered why autism and other behavioral problems, with their specific developmental problems, have so dramatically increased over the last ten to twenty years. It also became clear that autistic children do not suffer from one single cause but from an accumulation of different causes.
Along with the isopathic treatment we also add orthomolecular medicine to properly nourish the brain of these children and to restore proper bowel function. During treatment these supplements serve as a support for the healing process, while the healing process itself comes from the isopathic treatment. These supplements make the whole healing process smoother and help to avoid severe reactions during the detoxification.
As a third tool we also use homeopathy.

The claim that vaccines cause autism is not good. And Knock makes it again (as well as detoxifaction claims) -

Treatment consists of a number of steps and therapies.
Detoxification (homeopathically) of the most relevant stress factors in the patient's history: vaccines, anaesthesia, antibiotics, childhood diseases, etc. In cases with a history of difficult delivery and/or caesarian section, osteopathic help will be called in. Osteopaths are of the opinion that the meningae are often too tense leaving the brain insufficient room to grow (causing stress!).
Orthomolecular Support - the oxidative stress of the celebral cortex is treated with fat soluble vitamin C and the brain is nourished with omega-3 fatty acids (EPA and DHA) which are important building blocks for the brain.
The metallothionein function in the bowels and the brain can be restored with the use of zinc. For this we use an ascorbate complex (water soluble vitamin C combined with potassium, magnesium (tranquillizer) and zinc). This also restores the integrity of the bowels. In addition Saccharum Officinale D6 likewise yields good results in restoring intestinal flora and function.
Specific aspects of the austistic behaviour can be addressed by constitutional homeopathic treatment of the child, whereby a remedy is selected that is largely based on the behaviour of the child. The remedy Saccharum Officinale and other constitutional remedies are important elements in restoring eyecontact, contact with the outside world and the emotions etc. Cuprum Metallicum can offer the solution to the typical rigidity and obsessiveness. Both remedies are part of Inspiring Homeopathy and not yet very well known in the homeopathic world.

Suzie Reyes Nichol
Reyes Nichol has removed mention of CEASE from her website but this Yell advert states -
Suzie has used CEASE Therapy as part of Homeopathic Treatment in children on the Spectrum and those who have never got back their health after an illness or virus.
On Find A Therapy her entry says -
Her further professional studies have included a year-long course about Nutrition for Homeopaths and in October 2011 she qualified as a Certified CEASE Therapist.
Suzie has used CEASE Therapy as part of Homeopathic Treatment.

Yvonne Stone
Stone has been discussed several times on this website, including here. Whilst Stone has amended the claims on her website, on the Healthy Children page there is -
Do you need to decide about Vaccination, or has your child's health deteriorated since being vaccinated?
I am a Certified CEASE therapist and I have found that homeopathic medicines and good nutrition can help restore your child's good health. I co-run an Arnica Group in Colliers Wood. We meet once a month to talk about how to help our children grow up healthy and strong.
I am listed in The Autism Directory Acorn to Oak Health
Make time a look at these excellent sites:
The 5th edition of the No Nonsense Vaccine Handbook, which I co-wrote with Liz Bevan-Jones,is now available. You can get copies from homeopathic bookshops and pharmacies, or by contacting me
You can also subscribe to the Informed Parent magazine, which has many timely articles from a wide range of sources.
What next?
It would appear that the SoH needs to look again at member website compliance. It is difficult to believe that they thought some of the above websites are compliant. It's also clear that they need to broaden their scope to look at third party websites and probably social media. The above list should help them.

It's possible that the SoH has a very different idea about what compliance is than anyone else.

The SoH probably should take into account the ASA enforcement notice when reexamining websites but it should not be regarded as a minimum. Just because the ASA don't mention the "vaccines cause autism" claim doesn't mean that advertising regulation and consumer protection legislation does permit it.

UPDATE 12/07/2019
Through a Freedom of Information request it is now known that the ASA/CAP did inform the PSA and SoH in early May 2018 of the enforcement action. What CAP said to the PSA is very interesting -

We are preparing to send Enforcement Notices to practitioners of CEASE therapy (Complete Elimination of Autism Spectrum Expression) as the ASA has received complaints about claims that it can treat/cure autism and other spectrum-related conditions. Given that the ASA has already ruled on this therapy, we are contacting practitioners to remind them of their responsibilities under the Code. The Enforcement Notice asks them to review their websites, and other marketing materials, and make changes where necessary. After a four week grace period, monitoring spot checks will be carried out and non-compliant practitioners contacted.
Given that some registered CEASE practitioners are also members of the Society of Homeopaths, yesterday we sent a courtesy email to their Chief Executive, Mark Taylor, to advise that some RSHoms might be affected.
Mr Taylor explained that the Society are embarking on a plan of work with the PSA over the coming months looking at RSHoms use of CEASE. That would involve a position statement, to be published this month, followed by a second phase which would involve identifying which RSHoms advertise CEASE and then ensuring they do not make excessive claims. He said the focus would be on "explicit claims regarding elimination of autism, misguided advice on vaccinations and advising on vitamin intake in excess of the NHS guidelines".
Mr Taylor expressed concern that if we proceed with our piece of work on our current timetable (we expect to send the notices this week/early next week), that would confuse and hamper progress generally. We would like to know whether you share his view on that? At this point, we are disinclined to delay our work but would certainly take your perspective into account in coming to a final decision.

It is difficult not read Taylor as attempting to delay action. This would be consistent with other things that look like attempts to delay/water down compliance with PSA conditions on accreditation.

Also, there seems to have been a very few changes to SoH member websites listed above.
